Meet The Team
Below is the small team of people who together make Climbing for the Community possible. These passionate climbers and community members volunteer their time to creating Adventure Access and Acceptance for groups and individuals who otherwise wouldn't be able to experience outdoor rock climbing. Pats on back!!
Nicholas Shostak (President)
Nicholas has been a professional guide for 5 years and an avid climber for 8 years. He enjoys long traditional multipitch climbing and being out with friends in nature. Nicholas is dedicated to bringing climbing to as many people as possible through our free classes, events, and instructing. He believes that the community and confidence this sport brings can help to change the world.
In his free time he enjoys humbly living out if his sprinter van, playing guitar, writing poetry, traveling the West coast, and thru hiking long trails. AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and Emergency Medical Technician certified, Nicholas is truly the face and at the heart of our mission.
Jeremy Bowman (Vice President)
Jeremy is a passionate outdoor enthusiast that has a deep love for hiking, rock climbing, and all things outdoors. His dedication to our organization stems from his belief in the power of outdoor activities making a positive and meaningful impact on communities.
Jeremy's free time is spent with his wife and family, as well as assisting with the family air conditioning business. Other hobbies include golfing, playing billiards, and socializing with friends. Blending his love for climbing with a desire to give back makes Jeremy an inspiration for all who share his journey.
Ian Craft (Outreach Coordinator)
Ian has been rock climbing up and down California since 2012. You can usually catch him at his favorite local crag: Mission Gorge in San Diego. He believes strongly in increasing equality and accessibility to outdoor spaces, and is passionate about encouraging others to join him on his adventures.
Ian was born in Manchester England, but moved to California as a young boy to be closer to his Lebanese relatives. He is a proud family man, spending most of his time raising his young son.
Katie Pack (Head of Design)
Katie Pack is an artist, climber and all around good-time-seeker living in San Diego, CA. She is an avid climber and really enjoys cozy off width cracks. For her, rock climbing literally is community and It’s how she met some of her closest friends. It has also allowed her new spaces for growth and exploration both in the outside world and within herself.
Katie spends much of her time working in the art industry and throwing pots is but one of her specialties. Her guilty pleasures are chocolate ice cream, stellar sunrises, cool bugs, hanging out with all the people she loves, and teaching people how to hand jam.
Tessa Oliver (Secretary)
Tessa has been climbing since January 2024 and has dove headfirst into the community since. Her love for climbing, community relationships, and the outdoors brought her into Climbing for the Community. Tessa enjoys all types of climbing but has taken to crack climbing the most. Her favorite climbing area so far is Indian Creek in Moab where climbing cracks reigns supreme.
Tessa is a North Carolina native and loves wide open spaces to roam an explore. Much of her time is spent teaching dance classes locally in San Diego. She also enjoys diving into photography as well as aerial acrobatics.
Nathan Haney (Treasurer)
Nathan is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, born and raised surfing and hiking in San Diego. He discovered his passion for climbing while studying Accounting and Sustainability at San Diego State University. Through climbing, Nathan found his community and closest friends and is passionate about ensuring outdoor opportunities and access for everyone.
